October 1: Hand Embroider Your Clothing at Quilting Mayhem from 10:30am-12:30pm
Have you ever wanted to embroider your clothing? Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a hands-on workshop. Simply bring a garment to embroider and we’ll provide you with playful sample designs (or create your own!). This class will cover helpful do's and don’ts of embroidering your garments. Each attendee will also receive an embroidery hoop, thread, needle, and stabilizer to get started. This workshop is beginner-friendly and no prior embroidery experience is required. October 2: Succulent Cactus Ornaments at The Makery Fall Makers Event
Love the idea of a plant ornament but aren’t sure you can keep it alive? Why not stitch one! Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ in creating an embroidered succulent ornament. In this two-hour, hands-on class you’ll use the satin stitch, straight stitch, stem stitch, French knot, and couching stitch to create a delightful and sparkly holiday plant ornament embroidery. Class comes with a full kit that includes a 5-inch beechwood embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, a transfer pattern, felt, a sawtooth hook, and printed instructions. October 4: Virtual Floral Embroidery Basics with Making Co from 6-8pm
Flower power time! Learn to embroider flowers in this hands-on embroidery basics workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two-hour class covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches like the satin stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, detached chain stitch, leaf stitch, and French knot. Each attendee will receive a full kit that includes a wooden embroidery hoop, floral transfer designs, embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, a yellow pattern fabric, backing materials, and printed instructions. October 7: Fabric Landscapes at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm
Let’s create collage landscapes with fabric! Learn how to create your own fabric landscape using applique embroidery with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two-hour, hands-on workshop will cover how to pair fabrics to create your own unique landscapes, basic applique and beginner-friendly embroidery stitches like the running stitch, satin stitch, chain stitch, and fly stitch. Each participant will receive a full class kit that includes an embroidery hoop, cotton fabrics, full skeins of embroidery thread, embroidery needle, sewing pins, backing materials, and printed instructions. Wear your flair! That's right, in this two-hour, hands-on class you'll learn how to stitch your own hand embroidered pin. Attendees will receive a surprise pin shape and materials to create their own piece of wearable art. Fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ will share how to create the satin stitch, back stitch, reverse chain stitch, and straight stitch as well as her hand embroidery expertise, tips, and tricks to help you create your own unique pin. Calling all cactus lovers! Learn beginner and advanced embroider in this cactus inspired workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two and a half hour, hands-on workshop covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches including the satin stitch, long and short satin stitch, back stitch, reverse chain stitch, leaf stitch, French knot, lazy daisy, couching, needle weaving, and more!
