Embroidery Workshops: Things You Can Stitch This June

Workshops, workshops, workshops! Can you ever have too many things to craft? I think not! Join me for an in-person or virtual workshop where you can try something new, get back into an old craft, and create with fellow makers.


June 3: Magical Mushrooms at Make Apothecary from 6-8pm

Let’s stitch magical mushrooms! Learn to embroider a playful bunch of fungi in this embroidery workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two hour, hands-on workshop covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches such as the satin stitch, back stitch, reverse chain stitch, long and short satin stitch, and French knot. Each attendee will receive a full kit that includes: a wooden embroidery hoop, mushroom transfer designs, an embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, cream cotton fabric, backing materials, and printed instructions. June 4: Fabric Landscapes at Wyldwood Creative from 1-3pm

Let’s create collage landscapes with fabric! Learn how to create your own fabric landscape using appliqué embroidery with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two-hour, hands-on workshop will cover how to pair fabrics to create your own unique landscapes, basic appliqué and beginner-friendly embroidery stitches like the running stitch, satin stitch, chain stitch, and fly stitch. Each participant will receive a full class kit that includes an embroidery hoop, cotton fabrics, full skeins of embroidery thread, embroidery needle, sewing pins, backing materials, and printed instructions. June 5: Virtual Stitch a Desert Landscape Pin with Making Co from 11am-1pm

Wear your flair! That's right, in this two-hour, hands-on class you'll learn how to stitch your own hand embroidered pin. Attendees will receive a surprise pin shape and materials to create their own piece of wearable art. Fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ will share how to create the satin stitch, back stitch, reverse chain stitch, and straight stitch as well as her hand embroidery expertise, tips, and tricks to help you create your own unique pin. June 9: Embroidered Earrings at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm

Are you a fan of earrings? Learn how to create your own hand stitched pair! Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a two-hour hands-on workshop. You can choose from prickly pear cactus, mushrooms, flower designs, or create your own! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to transfer a design, create the radial satin stitch, seed stitch, and running stitch, as well as finish your embroidery in the earring setting. Each participant will receive a full kit that includes peach cotton fabric, a beechwood embroidery hoop, an embroidery needle, full skeins of DMC thread, a transfer pen, a pair of earring settings, and printed instructions. June 11: Ballard Art Walk at Monster


June 12: Virtual Doodles with Thread with Making Co from 11am-12:30pm

Relax with the mindfulness of hand embroidery and the freedom of doodling. In this hands-on workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith, you'll learn how to get started with embroidery as well as to create playful doodles with thread. Class will cover a variety of stitches that could include the satin stitch, back stitch, reverse chain stitch, stem stitch, running stitch, and French knot. Join class here.


June 13: Virtual Visible Mending with Pattern Review from 12noon-1:30pm

Learn woven mends! Woven mend on denim - Ever have a small hole you wish you could patch? Now you can with this woven mend. This visible mending technique is great for covering up smaller holes and worn areas on clothing. Woven wheel mend on denim or knits - Small holes, stains, and worn patches be gone! Learn how to use the woven wheel to easily mend your worn denim. This adds an interesting circular mend to your well worn and loved garments. Mend with me.

June 19: Virtual Rainbow Hat with Jenny Lemons from 11am-1pm

Wear your pride, love and hope. You can learn to stitch a whimsical rainbow baseball hat.

Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a two-hour, hands-on workshop and stitch a rainbow cap. We’ll use rainbow colors and the seed stitch, lazy daisy stitch, fly stitch, reverse chain stitch, and the pekinese stitch during class to create a gorgeous rainbow. This class is great for stitchers who have some embroidery experience, and all are welcome. Each class participant will receive a full kit that includes a blue adjustable baseball hat (one-size fits all), rainbow transfer design, full skeins of thread, a needle, and printed instructions.
