Chilly Weather Calls for Cozy Crafts: Try a November Workshop!


Does the cold dark weather make you wish you could stay in and craft the day away? It does for me! When it gets cold, dark and yucky out I become a crafty hermit. What better way to spend this season that getting cozy and crafting?

November 10: Succulent Ornaments at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm

Love the idea of a plant ornament but aren’t sure you can keep it alive? Why not stitch one! Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ in creating an embroidered succulent ornament. In this two-hour, hands-on class you’ll use the satin stitch, straight stitch, stem stitch, French knot, and couching stitch to create a delightful and sparkly holiday plant ornament embroidery. Class comes with a full kit that includes a 5-inch beechwood embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, a transfer pattern, felt, a sawtooth hook, and printed instructions. November 11: Virtual Cactus Snow Globe with Monster from 6:30-8:30pm

Winter is the time for comfort, good food, family, and a cozy craft. So let's celebrate the season with a snow globe cactus embroidery. This beginner-friendly hand embroidery workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbratih of MCreativeJ makes festive crafting fun for your family near or together from afar! Our live, online, 2-hour workshop will cover basic embroidery stitches and techniques as we create a cactus snow globe design. All materials will be mailed to you and kits include: an embroidery hoop, blue pattern fabric, embroidery needle, full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, a transfer design, hoop backing materials, and printed instructions. November 12: Fabric Landscapes at Quilting Mayhem from 10:30am-12:30pm

Let’s create collage landscapes with fabric! Learn how to create your own fabric landscape using applique embroidery with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two-hour, hands-on workshop will cover how to pair fabrics to create your own unique landscapes, basic applique and beginner-friendly embroidery stitches like the running stitch, satin stitch, chain stitch, and fly stitch. Each participant will receive a full class kit that includes an embroidery hoop, cotton fabrics, full skeins of embroidery thread, embroidery needle, sewing pins, backing materials, and printed instructions. November 13: Indigo Dyeing for Murderino Craft Night at Monster 6:30-8:30pm

Explore the magic of indigo dyeing with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. Learn how to fold and bind fabric to create patterns and designs with indigo dye. You’ll love seeing the dye change colors, and your designs come to life! Each attendee will receive four cotton tea towels to create their own patterns and are also encouraged to bring additional materials to dye. This class can get messy, so please wear clothing you don’t mind getting a little dye on. Drop in and dye things with us, but be sure to get a ticket first!


November 15: Holiday Cactus Ornaments at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm

Looking to spend time with friends and family this holiday season? Why not stitch a quirky cactus ornament together in an in-person workshop? Fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ will share how to create Santa hat and Christmas light cactus ornaments in an online two-hour, hands-on workshop. No embroidery experience needed. We’ll cover basic hand embroidery stitches so you can create your own playful cactus holiday ornament. These ornaments are perfect to hang on your tree or give as unique gifts. Each attendee will receive a workshop kit that includes an embroidery hoop, assorted full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, white fabric, an embroidery needle, felt, twine, and printed instructions. We’ll use the stem stitch, French knot, leaf stitch, and bullion knot stitch to add winter plants to napkins in this hands-on, two-hour workshop. Each attendee will receive a workshop kit that includes an embroidery hoop, assorted full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, two white cotton napkins, winter botanical transfer designs, an embroidery needle, and printed instructions. November 30: Virtual Embroidered Earrings with Jenny Lemons 5-7pm

Bangles, dangles, studs? Let’s add to that earring collection. Create your own hand stitched pair of earrings in a hands on workshop! Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a two-hour class. You can choose from prickly pear cactus, mushroom, or flower designs, or create your own! In this workshop, you’ll learn how to transfer a design, create the radial satin stitch, seed stitch, and running stitch, as well as finish your embroidery in the earring setting. Each participant will receive a full kit that includes peach cotton fabric, a beechwood embroidery hoop, an embroidery needle, full skeins of DMC thread, a transfer pen, a pair of earring settings, and printed instructions.
