May 1: Virtual Mindful Mending with Pattern Review from 12-2pm PST

Learn woven mends in this virtual hands-on class from Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. Bring your own supplies and try out woven mends on denim - Ever have a small hole you wish you could patch? Now you can with this woven mend. This visible mending technique is great for covering up smaller holes and worn areas on clothing. Woven wheel mend on denim or knits - Small holes, stains, and worn patches be gone! Learn how to use the woven wheel to easily mend your worn denim. May 2: Flower Pockets with On the Eastside Events at Black Raven Brewing from 6-7:30pm PST

Give yourself some flowers! Embellish a bouquet into your pocket. This could be a shirt pocket, pants pocket, or even a dress pocket. Any pocket that needs florals. Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a hands-on, 2.5 hour workshop. She’ll show you how to get started with embroidering your clothing and cover stitches like the stem stitch, detached chain stitch, long and short satin stitch, leaf stitch, French knot, and bullion knot.

A full kit is included with this class and comes with full skeins of DMC thread in various colors, transfer designs, a wood embroidery hoop, an embroidery needle, and printed instructions. Attendees will need to bring their own garments with a pocket to embroider. Get ready to embroider your pockets!


May 4: Fabric Landscapes at Make Apothecary from 6-8pm PST

Let’s create collage landscapes with fabric! Learn how to create your own fabric landscape using applique embroidery with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two-hour, hands-on workshop will cover how to pair fabrics to create your own unique landscapes, basic applique and beginner-friendly embroidery stitches like the running stitch, satin stitch, chain stitch, and fly stitch. Each participant will receive a full class kit that includes an embroidery hoop, cotton fabrics, full skeins of embroidery thread, embroidery needle, sewing pins, backing materials, and printed instructions. Have you ever wondered how to do a specific embroidery stitch? Or do you just want to try a bunch of them? Well now you can! Join Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a 3 hour, hands-on workshop. We’ll cover how to get started with embroidery as well as more advanced stitches like the split stitch, fly stitch, couching, leaf stitch, button hole stitch, wagon wheel rose, detached chain stitch, Danish knot, and bullion knot. Each attendee will receive a full class kit that includes cream cotton fabric, beechwood embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, full skeins of DMC thread, and a transfer pen. May 7: Woodland Napkins at Monster from 1-3pm PST

Bring the woodlands to your table with these embroidered napkins. From flowers to trees and fruits to mushrooms, these forest forage designs are perfect to celebrate spring and summer dining. Join Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a 2 hour, hands-on workshop stitching your own unique napkins. We’ll cover the seed stitch, stem stitch, detached chain stitch, French knot, and button hole stitch. Explore textural embroidery that pops off the fabric! Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ to learn 4 hand embroidery stitches that add raised elements to your stitching. Melissa will introduce you to just some of the many three-dimensional embroidery stitches included in her forthcoming book, How to Embroider Texture and Pattern. Join us for a free hour-long demonstration to learn how to create the fly stitch, tulip stitch, Danish knot, and cast on stitch.


May 9: Ice Dye at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm PST

Explore the magic of ice dyeing with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. Learn how to fold and bind fabric to create patterns and designs as well as the playful nature of ice dye. You’ll love playing with different folding techniques and seeing your designs come to life after the ice melts! Each attendee will receive four cotton tea towels to create their own patterns and are also encouraged to bring additional cotton materials to dye. May 11: Clothing Embroidery at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm PST

Have you ever wanted to embroider your clothing? Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a hands-on workshop. Simply bring a garment to embroider and we’ll provide you with playful sample designs (or create your own!). This class will cover helpful dos and don’ts of embroidering your garments. Each attendee will also receive an embroidery hoop, thread, needle, and stabilizer to get started. This workshop is beginner-friendly and no prior embroidery experience is required. May 16: Indigo Dye at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm PST

Explore the magic of indigo dyeing with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. Learn how to fold and bind fabric to create patterns and designs with indigo dye. You’ll love seeing the dye change colors, and your designs come to life! Each attendee will receive four cotton tea towels to create their own patterns and are also encouraged to bring additional materials to dye. This class can get messy, so please wear clothing you don’t mind getting a little dye on. Dye it all blue here.


May 17: Virtual Fluffy Moths with Maker General from 6:30-8:30pm MDT

You’ll be a flutter over these whimsical and fluffy moths. Do you want to learn to create fluffy stitches? Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith for an embroidery workshop. In a two hour, hands-on workshop we’ll cover a variety of embroidery stitches such as the satin stitch, split back stitch, fly stitch stitch, French knot, and turkey work. Each attendee will receive a full kit that includes a wooden embroidery hoop, moth transfer designs, an embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, cream cotton fabric, backing materials, and printed instructions. May 18: 3D Blooming Wildflowers at Make Apothecary from 6:30-8:30pm PST

Let’s create whimsical wildflowers! Learn to embroider a playful bunch of wildflowers in this embroidery workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two and a half hour, hands-on workshop covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches such as the satin stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, leaf stitch, French knot, and woven picot stitch.
