Fall Crafting Retreats for Makers

Updated: Aug 23, 2022

Crafty day camps are the new thing! Don't believe me? I've attended a couple and hosted my own Camp Craftaway this year! And it's only August.

If you haven't been to one yet or have and want to take part in another, be sure to check out these crafty options. Wether you want to attend in person or virtually, there's something for every maker!

September 22-24: Pop Art Glam with Floxsie

The leaves are starting to fall and Autumn has never looked brighter! Floxsie is hosting a spectacular Thursday - Saturday, September 22-23-24, 2022 virtual event. Our Floxsie POP ART GLAM Celebration will only be complete if you are here with us! Register now and you won’t miss a minute of the fiber fun and friendship.

Floxsie is saluting all things bright and beautiful in three days of compelling content that you can’t find together anywhere else. In addition to dynamic demos and classes, we’ve got some of the best indie dyers and vendors who are bringing their brightest offerings and kits to our virtual marketplace. From stitching newbies to savvy makers, Floxsie's POP ART GLAM has got something for everyone and we can’t wait to spend the weekend with you!

See our Event Calendars to see what sessions and skills you can learn at Floxsie's POP ART GLAM virtual event!

At the Floxsie virtual event, I'll be teaching Fabric Landscapes! I can't wait for us to create collage landscapes with fabric and thread! I'll share how to create a landscape using fabric scraps and applique embroidery. This hands-on workshop will cover how to pair fabrics to create your own unique landscapes, basic applique and beginner-friendly embroidery stitches like the running stitch, satin stitch, chain stitch, and fly stitch.

October 2: The Makery's Fall Maker Event

I'll be joining them for a day of making and am teaching a holiday embroidery workshop too. You can also take part in wood working, cookie decorating, and brush lettering. All excellent crafts to get you prepped for the holidays and the season of making.

Love the idea of a plant ornament but aren’t sure you can keep it alive? Why not stitch one! Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ in creating an embroidered succulent ornament. In this two-hour, hands-on class you’ll use the satin stitch, straight stitch, stem stitch, French knot, and couching stitch to create a delightful and sparkly holiday plant ornament embroidery. Class comes with a full kit that includes a 5-inch beechwood embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, a transfer pattern, felt, a sawtooth hook, and printed instructions.

October 22: Makers Retreat with Straight Stitch Design

Join me and other makers for 4 days of making, community, and a chance to step away from your day to day life and just create. We will be kicking our shoes off, getting comfortable and making friends. You can never have too many maker friends. This retreat is for makers and sewists of all levels. If you have never used a sewing machine, we will be there to help you through the whole process.

I'm covering the basics of hand embroidery with my Floral Embroidery workshop. Wether you've stitched before or not at all, you'll enjoy working with a variety of stitches to create a unique floral design.
