Learn a New Craft. Take a Virtual Embroidery Workshop This May

Have you ever wanted to try embroidery? Does it look like a craft you'd love but you're just not sure where to start? Or maybe you're looking to advance your skills? Then you should join me for a virtual embroidery workshop!


These live, online workshops with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ (that's me!) are the perfect opportunity to learn a new craft, refresh your embroidery knowledge, advance your skills, or just have an enjoyable crafty night in. From embroidered jewelry to 3D embroidery, and thread painting to all sorts of fun floral designs there are plenty of options for you to pick up a needle and get stitching.


Floral Embroidery Basics on May 9 from 11am-1pm PST with Jenny Lemons

Are you looking for a social distant activity to celebrate Mother's Day this year? Then why not stitch flowers together? In this online workshop you (and your mom) can learn to embroider florals in this embroidery basics workshop. This 2-hour, hands-on workshop covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches and each attendee will receive a full kit.

Kits are mailed to you and include: a wooden embroidery hoop, floral transfer designs, embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, a surprise pattern fabric, backing materials, and printed instructions. Please register by May 2nd.


Embroidered Lettering on May 11 from 6-8pm PST with Monster

Want to add a cute phrase or snarky saying to your embroidery? Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a two-hour, hands-on virtual workshop. We'll cover 5 different beginner-friendly embroidery stitches that are great for stitching lettering, along with tips and tricks to stitch your favorite phrases. Each attendee will receive a full kit for this online workshop. Kits are mailed to you and include: wooden embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, surprise cotton fabric, transfer pen, and printed instructions. A recording of the workshop will be available after class. Register by May 5th to ensure enough time for class supplies to reach you.


Tropical Plant Embroidery on May 13 from 6:30-8:30pm PST with Spacecraft

Let’s get tropical! Learn to embroider tropical plants in this online embroidery workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two-hour, hands-on workshop covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches and each attendee will receive a full kit. Kits are mailed to you and include: a wooden embroidery hoop, transfer design, sewing pins, an embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, a cream cotton fabric, backing materials, and printed instructions. A recording of the workshop will be available after class. Register by May 6th to join in the stitching fun!


Desert Landscape Pins on May 15 from 4-6pm PST with Monster

Wear your flair! That's right, in this two-hour, hands-on class you'll learn how to stitch your own hand embroidered pin. Attendees will receive a surprise pin shape and materials to create their own piece of wearable art. Fiber artist, Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ will share her hand embroidery expertise, tips, and tricks to help you create your own unique pin. Come with landscape design ideas in mind. Register by May 8th.


Heart Cactus & 3D Flower on May 18 from 6-8pm PST with Monster

Want to learn how to paint with thread and create 3-dimensional embroidery? Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for an online hands-on embroidery workshop. In this 2 hour class you'll create your own ombre cactus with 3D flower embroidery while learning different embroidery techniques. Class materials are mailed to your door and include: a wooden embroidery hoop, surprise fabric, assorted full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, embroidery needle, pins, backing materials, and printed instructions. Please register by May 11th.


Wildflower Embroidery Basics on May 20 from 5:30-7:30pm PST with Maker General

Hey there wildflower lover! Let's stitch some of these colorful blooms. Learn to embroider wildflowers in this online embroidery basics workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two-hour, hands-on workshop covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches and each attendee will receive a full kit. Kits are mailed to you and include: a wooden embroidery hoop, floral transfer designs, embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, a surprise pattern fabric, backing materials, and printed instructions. Mountain Landscape Pendant on May 22 from 11am-1pm PST with Needles Studio

Join me for an evening of fun and creativity. In this hands-on class you'll learn how to stitch your own mountain landscape and make a hand embroidered pendant. Attendees will create a lush, mountain landscape to create your own piece of wearable art. Melissa will share her hand embroidery expertise, tips, and tricks to help you create your own uniquely designed pendant. All materials (including a surprise pendant shape) will be provided and a kit will be sent straight to your door. You join the class via Zoom and get creative from the comfort of your own home! Please register by May 15th.



My Three Favorite Stitches on May 22 starting at 6:30pm PST on Instagram LIVE with Monster

In lieu of an artist chat on Instagram Live, we're going to have an embroidery lesson. Melissa will be teaching us her three favorite embroidery stitches. Our Instagram is @monstermonstershop. If you follow us, you'll get a notification when the live begins on 5/22 at 6:30 p.m. PST. Anyone is welcome to join and the event is free to attend. You can purchase a supply kit off our website or gather your own supplies. 50% of all supply sales will be donated to the non-profit of Melissa's choosing: Seattle ReCreative.


Learn to Draw With Thread on May 25 from 5-7pm PST with Jenny Lemons

Have you ever wanted to create fiber art or to customize your clothing and linens? In Beginning Embroidery, you will learn classic and experimental hand sewing techniques to create drawings in thread. We will learn how to successfully sew several different embroidery stitches that will create unique surfaces, lines, and textures. The class will begin with introductions and check-in about everyone's skill level. We will start at the very beginning with how to select appropriate fabric for embroidery, how to thread a needle, how to split threads, and how to stretch your fabric on a hoop. We will learn 6 embroidery stitches including: running stitch, backstitch, whipped backstitch, chain stitch, satin stitch, and French knot. Register by May 18th to have a kit mailed to you or by May 25 if you're providing your own supplies.


 

All class times are listed in Pacific Time. Classes tickets can be purchased through the registration links in each workshop description on my partner's websites. Workshops include a class kit unless otherwise stated on the registration page.
