A Craft Vacation

For the last five years I've taken myself on a vacation- a craft vacation that is. Each April, my friend Sara and I pack our bags and fly down to Ventura, California for Craftcation. A week of relaxation, crafting, beachside walks, thrift store adventures, meeting crafty friends, and foodie adventures.

Craftcation conference for creatives

So what is Craftcation?

Craftcation is for crafty people. People who have crafty small businesses. People who want a vacation by the beach and to hang out with creative friends. Even though I have a small business, I got just for the craft workshops! These four days give me a chance to try a variety of crafts I never seem to have time for at home.

Prior to Craftcation you'll be able to sign up for craft classes, so you know exactly what classes you're taking when you get there. You don't have to bring anything but yourself and creativity to each workshop or business lecture. Each day offers three 2-hour hands-on workshop or lecture from artists and business professionals. I love that I'm learning from fellow makers. And if I do find myself in a business lecture, it's helpful to know that these makers are facing many of the same issues I am as well.

The workshops

At Craftcation workshops are wide-ranging! From fiber arts to painting to stained glass to jewelry making to resin to cookie decorating and more. Every year they find interesting workshops and knowledgable artists to teach classes.

Not only will I be attending this year, but I also get to teach four workshops! I'll be teaching two sessions of Indigo Dyeing and two sessions of Fabric Landscapes. These are two of my favorite classes to teach and I'm thrilled to get to share them with my fellow crafty friends.
