Bokhara Couching Stitch Step-by-Step Tutorial

1. To start the Bokhara couching stitch, draw the shape you want to fill. Next create parallel diagonal lines inside the shape. These diagonal lines will be the pattern used the tac down the laid thread in this stitch.

2. Bring the thread up in the bottom side corner of the shape. If your shape doesn't have a corner, the bottom-most point is where you want to start. Make a straight stitch across to the other side of the shape.

3. Now, bring the needle up slightly above the laid thread (straight stitch) where the diagonal line is. Make a short tacking stitch over the laid thread. Then move on to the next diagonal line and repeat. Work backwards along the laid thread until it's tacked down with all of the diagonal lines.

4. Then start the next row. Create the straight stitch across the shape and then tack it down with short stitches along the diagonal lines. This second row should be parallel and as close as possible to the first so that the shape is filled in.

5. Repeat until the shape is entirely filled.
