Stitch the New Botanical Embroidery Kits in Collaboration with Flax and Twine

Say hello to three new embroidery kits! I worked with Flax and Twine to design these embroidery botanical kits that are full of greenery, whimsy, and cottagecore vibes.

A few years ago, I met Anne, the woman behind Flax and Twine, at a trade show. We had dinner with some friends and hit it off. A few months after the show, she reached out to see if I wanted to collaborate on creating hand embroidery kits for Flax and Twine, since their focus is to source beautiful fibers and tools and they already had a wide variety of bowel and basket kits.

For about two months, Anne and I went back and forth designing patterns. We finessed colors, switched up materials, and debated techniques to create a beginner, an intermediate, and an advanced design. Once these designs were approved on both sides, I waited for Anne to move forward and make them a reality.

Time went on, life happened and I kid of forgot about our collaboration. A year went by, then another six months and I ran into Anne at that same trade show again. One of the first thing she said to me was, "Our kits are launching, I promise it's happening!" And a few months later, here we are!

Three Botanical Embroidery Kits

Botanical Branches

This beginner embroidery kit features a cluster of three lusciously green plant stems. With this beginner-friendly embroidery kit you'll learn three foundational embroidery stitches, the split stitch, satin stitch, and the lazy daisy/ detached chain, stitch- all while creating something lovely with your own two hands. This project is stitched on grey Waterford linen, includes Valdani embroidery thread, embroidery needle, Japanese style thread clippers, a water soluble pattern, and is finished in a four-inch embroidery hoop. Botanical Wreath

This intermediate kit is a 5-inch hoop that features a circular wreath of leafy branches, ferns, hydrangeas, and daisies. With this kit you get to build on your beginner skills and branch out to try a few new techniques. In additional to the stitches used in the Botanical Branches kit, this kit also uses the stem stitch, leaf stitch, and french knot. This project is stitched on grey Waterford linen, includes Valdani embroidery thread, embroidery needle, Japanese style thread clippers, a water soluble pattern, and is finished in a five-inch embroidery hoop. Botanical Bouquet

This advanced embroidery kit features a delicate bouquet of plants and greenery in muted, whimsical colors. With this kit, you'll continue to build on the skills learned from Botanical Branches and Botanical Wreath, adding in new stitches like the bullion knot and use some of the previous stitches in new ways. This project is stitched on grey Waterford linen, includes Valdani embroidery thread, embroidery needle, Japanese style thread clippers, a water soluble pattern, and is finished in a four-by-six inch oval embroidery hoop.
