June is the perfect time to get crafting. The longer days, with more sunshine and warm weather are the perfect opportunity to get out of the house and try something new!


Thinking of trying hand embroidery? Upcycling your clothing with stitching? Maybe learning to indigo or ice dye?


I've got you covered! Join me for a hands-on craft class this June. Here's what's in store for you and how you can get crafty!


June Craft Classes


June 2: Photo Frame Embroidery at Wyldwood Creative from 10am-12noon PST

Want to create an embroidered photo frame keepsake? Create a personalized hand stitched frame to remember a special memory, location, event, and more. This two-hour hands-on class with Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ will get you started with hand embroidering a photo frame. Each person will be able to choose from a variety of nature inspired patterns and thread colors to create a personalized project. Class will cover hand embroidery stitches such as the satin stitch, split back stitch, stem stitch, and French knot. Frame fits up to a 4x3 photo best.  

Photo is an example of what can be created with this class. Designs will vary.



June 4: Upcycle Your Clothing with Hand Embroidery at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm PST

Cover up stains and small holes in your clothing with hand embroidery. Join fiber artist and author Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a hands-on workshop. Simply bring a garment to embroider and we’ll provide you with playful nature-inspired sample designs to stitch. This class will cover helpful dos and don’ts of embroidering garments as well as stitches best suited for your individual garment and pattern. Each attendee will also receive an embroidery hoop, thread, needle, and stabilizer to get started. This workshop is beginner-friendly and no prior embroidery experience is required.

Flower power time! Learn to embroider flowers in this hands-on embroidery basics workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two-hour class covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches like the satin stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, detached chain stitch, leaf stitch, and French knot. Each attendee will receive a full kit that includes a wooden embroidery hoop, floral transfer designs, embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, a yellow pattern fabric, backing materials, and printed instructions.



June 9: Flower Pocket Clothing Embroidery at Picket Fence Art Studio from 2-4:30pm PST

Give yourself some flowers! Embellish a bouquet into your pocket. This could be a shirt pocket, pants pocket, or even a dress pocket. Any pocket that needs florals. Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a hands-on, 2.5 hour workshop. She’ll show you how to get started with embroidering your clothing and cover stitches like the stem stitch, detached chain stitch, long and short satin stitch, leaf stitch, French knot, and bullion knot.

A full kit is included with this class and comes with full skeins of DMC thread in various colors, transfer designs, a wood embroidery hoop, an embroidery needle, and printed instructions. Attendees will need to bring their own garments with a pocket to embroider.

Embroider your blue era. Cyanotyping is one of the earliest photographic processes that uses sunlight to capture an image and create a blue print. This concept inspired my Cyanotype Botanicals embroidery design. Even if it's not a sunny day, you can still enjoy a gorgeous blue botanical design.

Join in creating a faux cyanotype! In this beginner-friendly hand embroidery workshop with author and fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ you'll learn hand embroidery basics and get started creating a blue botanical design. This workshop will go over beginner embroidery basics and stitches such as the split back stitch, leaf stitch, detached chain stitch, and French knot. 

Class is best suited for ages 12+. No prior embroidery experience is needed. All skill levels are welcome.


June 18: Bee T-Shirt Embroidery at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm PST

Have you ever wanted to add embroidery to your t-shirt? Well now you can! Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ in a two-hour workshop. You'll learn the leaf stitch, back stitch, satin stitch, and stem stitch to create this bee and leaf design, specifics of how to embroider on clothing, and tips and tricks to making your embroidered clothing last. Simply bring your own t-shirt and let's get stitching. Class participants will receive a materials kit that includes DMC embroidery thread, an embroidery needle, a transfer pattern, iron-on stabilizer, an embroidery hoop, and printed instructions.



June 20: Explore Ice Dyeing at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm PST

Explore the magic of ice dyeing with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. Learn how to fold and bind fabric to create patterns and designs as well as the playful nature of ice dye. You’ll love playing with different folding techniques and seeing your designs come to life after the ice melts! Each attendee will receive four cotton tea towels to create their own patterns and are also encouraged to bring additional cotton materials to dye. This class can get messy, so please wear clothing you don’t mind getting a little dye on.

Flower power time! Learn to embroider wildflowers in this embroidery basics workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two-hour, hands-on workshop covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches such as the satin stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, reverse chain stitch, leaf stitch, and French knot. Each attendee will receive a full kit that includes: a wooden embroidery hoop, floral transfer designs, embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, surprise pink pattern fabric, backing materials, and printed instructions.

Explore the magic of indigo dyeing with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. Learn how to fold and bind fabric to create patterns and designs with indigo dye. You’ll love seeing the dye change colors, and your designs come to life! Each attendee will receive four cotton tea towels to create their own patterns and are also encouraged to bring additional materials to dye. This class can get messy, so please wear clothing you don’t mind getting a little dye on. If you are bringing additional items to dye, please nothing larger than 3ft x3ft.
