I always think of November as the eye before the storm that is the holidays. My December is always jam packed with markets, events, family bonding, and all sorts of activities. To be honest I'm already a little overwhelmed by what my planner says I have planned.


But November often feels overlooked. Yes, we Americans have Thanksgiving, but that's at the end of the month. Get a jump on crafty activities with friends, holiday crafting, and those handmade gifts with an MCreativeJ hand embroidery workshop.

November 2: Textural Gourd Embroidery from 2-4pm PST at Ben Franklin Crafts in Bonney Lake

Want to learn how to create textural embroidery? Join Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a 2 hour, hands-on workshop. We’ll be stitching nobly, texture-filled gourds using the chain stitch, colonial knot, split stitch, and Danish knot. November 2: Woodland Napkin Embroidery from 5-7pm PST at Ben Franklin Crafts in Bonney Lake

Bring the woodlands to your table with these embroidered napkins. From flowers to trees and fruits to mushrooms, these forest forage designs are perfect to celebrate spring and summer dining. Join Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a 2 hour, hands-on workshop stitching your own unique napkins. We’ll cover the seed stitch, stem stitch, detached chain stitch, French knot, and button hole stitch. November 3: Holiday Sweater Embroidery from 6:30-8:30pm PST at Monster

Jazz up a sweater for the holidays! Whether it’s something cozy or fancy, all clothing is better with embroidery. In this hands-on class you’ll pick from a variety of holiday botanical inspired designs to embellish a sweater using the leaf stitch, stem stitch, french knot, whipped back stitch, and fly stitch. Simply bring a sweater you’d like to embroider and fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ will show you the rest. A full kit is included with this class and comes with full skeins of DMC thread in various colors, an embroidery hoop, winter botanical transfer designs, and an embroidery needle. November 4: Winter Botanical Napkin Embroidery from 10:30-12:30pm PST at Quilting Mayhem

Let's stitch some winter greenery. Learn a new skill or brush up on an old one with local fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. We’ll use the stem stitch, French knot, leaf stitch, and bullion knot stitch to add winter plants to napkins in this hands-on, two-hour workshop. November 5: Holiday Cactus Ornament Embroidery from 1-3pm PST at Monster

Looking to spend time with friends and family this holiday season? Why not stitch a quirky cactus ornament together in a workshop? Fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ will share how to create Santa hat and Christmas light cactus ornaments in two-hour, hands-on workshop. No embroidery experience needed. November 10: Flower Pocket Embroidery from 6-8pm PST at Make Apothecary

Give yourself some flowers! Embellish a bouquet into your pocket. This could be a shirt pocket, pants pocket, or even a dress pocket. Any pocket that needs florals. Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a hands-on, 2.5 hour workshop. She’ll show you how to get started with embroidering your clothing and cover stitches like the stem stitch, detached chain stitch, long and short satin stitch, leaf stitch, French knot, and bullion knot.

A full kit is included with this class and comes with full skeins of DMC thread in various colors, transfer designs, a wood embroidery hoop, an embroidery needle, and printed instructions. Attendees will need to bring their own garments with a pocket to embroider. Sign up for class here.

November 11: Winter Botanical Ornament Embroidery from 10-12noon PST at Molbak's

November 14: Mini 3D Woodland Mushroom Embroidery from 6:30-8:30pm PST at Monster

Learn hand embroidery stitches that pop off the fabric in this hands-on, Mini 3D Woodland Mushroom workshop. Over 2 hours, fiber artist and author Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ will share how to embroider the padded satin stitch, French knot, pistil stitch, cast on stitch, and needle weaving bar. These stitches will add depth, texture and movement to a delightful forested mushroom design. Included in the workshop you will also receive a class kit complete with a 4-inch embroidery hoop, transfer pattern, terracotta cotton fabric, embroidery needle, assorted full skeins of DMC thread, and printed instructions. November 20: Clothing Embroidery from 6:30-8:30pm PST at Monster

Cover up stains and small holes in your clothing with hand embroidery. Join fiber artist and author Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a hands-on workshop. Simply bring a garment to embroider and we’ll provide you with playful nature-inspired sample designs to stitch. This class will cover helpful dos and don’ts of embroidering garments as well as stitches best suited for your individual garment and pattern. Each attendee will also receive an embroidery hoop, thread, needle, and stabilizer to get started. This workshop is beginner-friendly and no prior embroidery experience is required. November 28: Virtual Workshop Magical Mushroom Embroidery from 5-7pm PST with Maker General

Let’s stitch magical mushrooms! Learn to embroider a playful bunch of fungi in this embroidery workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two hour, hands-on workshop covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches such as the satin stitch, back stitch, reverse chain stitch, long and short satin stitch, and French knot. November 29: Positive Plants Embroidery from 6:30-8:30pm PST at Monster

Let’s stitch a little positivity into our everyday lives. Join Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for Positive Plants embroidery, a hands-on beginner-friendly workshop. In this two-hour class we’ll use hand dyed indigo fabric and choose from four phrases (You are loved, you are magic, you are enough, or you belong here) or create your own to stitch among leaves. Melissa will share how to prep your hoop, transfer your pattern, and use the back stitch, stem stitch, and lazy daisy stitch to create your own positive plant design. All materials for class are included: a wooden embroidery hoop, indigo dyed cotton fabric, full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, embroidery needle, 4 pattern options, transfer paper, felt, sawtooth hook, and printed instructions.
