Get Your Embroidery On For National Embroidery Month!

Did you know that February is National Embroidery Month? Get ready to celebrate all things stitchy! This month, I have a great selection of in-person and virtual workshops for you to dive into hand embroidery. Whether you're new to the craft or have stitched for years, you're sure to find something fun to stitch.


February 12: SODO Flea 10-4pm

Stop by to pick up an embroidery kit or one of my one of a kind embroideries! This is my first market of 2022 and it's sure to be fun with all the wonderful vintage and handmade vendors.


February 17: Virtual Heart Cactus with 3D Flower from 6-8pm with Spacecraft

Want to learn how to paint with thread and create 3-dimensional embroidery? Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for an online, hands-on embroidery workshop. In this 2 hour class you’ll create your own ombre cactus with 3D flower embroidery while learning different embroidery techniques such as the long and short satin stitch, the woven picot stitch, and the French knot. Class materials are mailed to your door and include: a wooden embroidery hoop, surprise fabric, assorted full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, embroidery needle, pins, backing materials, and printed instructions. Please register by February 10 so we can mail you your class kit.


February 20: Virtual Blooming Wildflowers from 11am-1pm with Jenny Lemons

Let’s create whimsical wildflowers! Learn to embroider a playful bunch of wildflowers in this online embroidery workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two and a half hour, hands-on workshop covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches such as the satin stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, leaf stitch, French knot, and woven picot stitch. Each attendee will receive a full kit. Kits are mailed to you and include: a wooden embroidery hoop, transfer design, sewing pins, an embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, a cream cotton fabric, backing materials, and printed instructions. A recording of the workshop will be available after class. Please register for class by February 13 so we can mail you supplies to you.


February 24: Positive Plants from 6:30-8:30pm at Monster

Let’s stitch a little positivity into our everyday lives. Join Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for Positive Plants embroidery, a hands-on beginner-friendly workshop. In this two-hour class we’ll use hand dyed indigo fabric and choose from four phrases (You are loved, you are magic, you are enough, or you belong here) or create your own to stitch among leaves. Melissa will share how to prep your hoop, transfer your pattern, and use the back stitch, stem stitch, and lazy daisy stitch to create your own positive plant design. All materials for class are included: a wooden embroidery hoop, indigo dyed cotton fabric, full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, embroidery needle, 4 pattern options, transfer paper, felt, sawtooth hook, and printed instructions. February 28: Virtual Plants + Shapes Applique Embroidery from 6:30-8:30pm with Monster

Let’s mix and match fabric and embroidery! Learn how to applique abstract fabric shapes and plants with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two-hour, virtual workshop will cover basic applique and beginner-friendly embroidery stitches like the running stitch, satin stitch, back stitch, and button hole stitch. Each participant will receive a full class kit that includes an embroidery hoop, cotton fabrics, full skeins of embroidery thread, embroidery needle, sewing pins, backing materials, and printed instructions. Please purchase your ticket by 2/21 in order to ensure that your supply kit reaches you before class.
