Celebrate National Embroidery Month with a Workshop from MCreativeJ


Did you know that February is National Embroidery month? What better way to celebrate than by taking an embroidery workshop and stitching away! Whether you're new to embroidery or want to learn new techniques and stitches, I've got you covered.

February 1: Desert Landscape Pins at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm PST

Wear your flair! That's right, in this two-hour, hands-on class you'll learn how to stitch your own hand embroidered pin. Attendees will receive a surprise pin shape and materials to create their own piece of wearable art. Fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ will share how to create the satin stitch, back stitch, reverse chain stitch, and straight stitch as well as her hand embroidery expertise, tips, and tricks to help you create your own unique pin. February 7: Fluffy Moths at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm PST

You’ll be a flutter over these whimsical and fluffy moths. Do you want to learn to create fluffy stitches? Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith for an embroidery workshop. In a two hour, hands-on workshop we’ll cover a variety of embroidery stitches such as the satin stitch, split back stitch, fly stitch stitch, French knot, and turkey work. Each attendee will receive a full kit that includes a wooden embroidery hoop, moth transfer designs, an embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, cream cotton fabric, backing materials, and printed instructions. February 9: Pacific Northwest Pendants at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm PST

Calling all pacific northwest lovers! Want to learn how to hand embroider a mountain range landscape pendant? Join Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a 2-hour workshop. This hands-on experience includes all the materials you’ll need to create a beautiful hand embroidered pendant. The workshop covers beginner friendly embroidery stitches such as the satin stitch, back stitch, reverse chain stitch, and long and short satin stitch. Each attendee will receive a full kit that includes a silver oval pendant setting, full skeins of DMC embroidery floss, an embroidery hoop, blue fabric, printed instructions, and an embroidery needle. February 10: Clothing Embroidery at Wyldwood Creative from 6-8pm PST

Have you ever wanted to embroider your clothing? Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a hands-on workshop. Simply bring a garment to embroider and we’ll provide you with playful sample designs (or create your own!). This class will cover helpful dos and don’ts of embroidering your garments. Each attendee will also receive an embroidery hoop, thread, needle, and stabilizer to get started. This workshop is beginner-friendly and no prior embroidery experience is required. February 17: Embroidered Earrings at Make Apothecary from 6-8pm PST

Let’s add to that earring collection. Create your own hand stitched pair of earrings in a hands on workshop! Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a two-hour class. You can choose from prickly pear cactus, mushroom, or flower designs, or create your own! In this workshop, you’ll learn how to transfer a design, create the radial satin stitch, seed stitch, and running stitch, as well as finish your embroidery in the earring setting. Each participant will receive a full kit that includes peach cotton fabric, a beechwood embroidery hoop, an embroidery needle, full skeins of DMC thread, a transfer pen, a pair of earring settings, and printed instructions. February 24: Beginner Thread Doodles at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm PST

Have you ever wondered how to do a specific embroidery stitch? Or do you just want to try a bunch of them? Well now you can! Join Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a 2 hour, hands-on workshop. We’ll cover embroidery basics to get you started, like placing fabric in the hoop, splitting thread, threading the needle, and knotting the thread. This class will also cover beginner embroidery stitches like the satin stitch, back stitch, running stitch, whipped back stitch, French knot, and reverse chain stitch. Each attendee will receive a full class kit that includes cream cotton fabric, beechwood embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, full skeins of DMC thread, and a transfer pen. Sign up for class here. February 26: Advanced Thread Doodles at Monster from 4-7pm PST

Have you ever wondered how to do a specific embroidery stitch? Or do you just want to try a bunch of them? Well now you can! Join Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a 3 hour, hands-on workshop. We’ll cover how to get started with embroidery as well as more advanced stitches like the split stitch, fly stitch, couching, leaf stitch, button hole stitch, wagon wheel rose, detached chain stitch, Danish knot, and bullion knot. Each attendee will receive a full class kit that includes cream cotton fabric, beechwood embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, full skeins of DMC thread, and a transfer pen.
