It felt like a pretty drastic switch to fall this year in the Pacific Northwest. I must admit, I've been bundling up in sweaters for a while now. Sometimes even two or three as I figure out how to use our new home heating system without paying an arm and a leg to stay warm (home owner problems :P) But even without that, layers of coziness are my thing and this time of year you can usually find me curled up in a pile of blankets stitching away.
One of the good things to come out of the craziness that has been 2020 so far, has been online workshops! It's been a joyful experience to connect with fellow makers, crafters, and friends from all over the world. And the best part? You don't even have to leave home!
We can cozy craft together from anywhere. If you're looking to learn something new or connect with friends through an online workshop, try one of these online workshops I have planned for November. From winter botanicals and snow globes, to lettering, space, florals, and pins, there's something fun for everyone to try!
November 8: Cactus Snow Globe with Wyldwood Creative from 11am -1pm
Winter is the time for comfort, good food, family, and a cozy craft. So let's celebrate the season with a snow globe cactus embroidery! This beginner-friendly hands on embroidery workshop makes festive crafting fun for your family near or together from afar! Our live, online, 2-hour workshop will cover basic embroidery stitches and techniques as we create a cactus snow globe design. All materials will be mailed to you and kits include: an embroidery hoop, blue pattern fabric, embroidery needle, full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, a transfer design, hoop backing materials, and printed instructions. Please RSVP by November 1, to have your kit mailed in time to join us in the stitching fun.
November 12: Embroidered Lettering with Spacecraft from 6-8pm
Want to add a cute phrase or snarky saying to your embroidery? Join us for a two hour, hands-on workshop. We'll cover five different beginner-friendly embroidery stitches that are great for stitching lettering along with tips and tricks to stitch your favorite phrases. Each attendee will receive a full kit for this online workshop. Kits are mailed to you and include: a wooden embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, a surprise cotton fabric, a transfer pen, and printed instructions. A recording of the workshop will be available after class. This class will take place via Zoom on November 12th from 6-8pm. Please RSVP by November 5 to ensure your kit arrives in time to join us!
November 15: Floral Embroidery Basics with Monster from 10am-12noon
Flower power! Learn to embroider flowers, blooms, and leaves. Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for an online hands-on, 2 hour embroidery basics workshop. This beginner friendly embroidery workshop includes a workshop kit mailed to your door. Kits include a wooden embroidery hoop, surprise pattern fabric, assorted full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, embroidery needle, floral transfer designs, backing materials, and printed instructions. A recording of the workshop will be available after class. Whether you're an embroidery newbie or a stitching pro, you're sure to learn new stitches, techniques, and tips! This class will take place over Zoom on 11/15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Please RSVP by November 8 to ensure your kit is delivered in time for the workshop.
November 19: Embroidery Basics in Space with Spacecraft from 6-8pm
Stars, meteors, and planets galore! We're out of this world excited to stitch a Spacecraft exclusive planetary design with Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. Join us for an online 2-hour hands on workshop as we explore the galaxies. This workshop includes beginner friendly embroidery stitches to create a space design. A full kit will be mailed to your door for this class and includes: a wooden embroidery hoop, yellow fabric, a planetary transfer design, embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, felt, a sawtooth hook, and printed instructions. Class will be held via Zoom on Thursday, November 19th from 6-8pm PT. Please register by November 12 to join in the stitching fun.
November 20: Winter Botanicals with Monster from 6:30-8:30pm
Stitch the botanicals of winter from the comfort of your home. Snuggle up with a hot beverage, a cozy blanket, and we’ll cover embroidery basics while stitching winter plants in this hands-on, two hour online workshop. Each attendee will receive a workshop kit mailed to their door that includes an embroidery hoop, assorted full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, surprise pattern fabric, winter botanical transfer designs, an embroidery needle, felt, a sawtooth hook, and printed instructions. Whether you're an embroidery newbie or a stitching pro, you're sure to learn new stitches, techniques, and tips! Calling all pacific northwest lovers! Want to learn how to hand embroider a mountain range landscape pin? Join us for an online 2 hour workshop. This hands-on, virtual experience includes all the materials you’ll need to create a beautiful hand embroidered pin. The live workshop covers a variety of beginner friendly embroidery stitches and a full kit is mailed to your door. Kits include an oval shaped pin setting, full skeins of DMC embroidery floss, an embroidery hoop, blue pattern fabric, printed instructions, an embroidery needle and live instruction via Zoom. This class takes place over Zoom on 11/29 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Please RSVP by November 22 to save your spot.
