The Sheepery Pattern Pack

The Sheepery is the newest stick and stitch hand embroidery pattern pack. This pattern collection was created in collaboration with Fog & Fleece Sheepery in Bellingham, WA. I met Caroline, the owner behind Fog & Fleece, a few years ago at Flock Fiber Festival. Earlier this year she reached out to ask if I would be interested in working with her on creating a custom pattern pack. Having worked with a few other shops to create custom patterns and kits, I was excited to work with her on this project.

Over a few weeks, Caroline and I discussed what she envisioned The Sheepery pattern pack would entail. We created a Google drive folder of imagery that we used as a collage board. From there I edited the imagery into a smaller and more cohesive collection. Then I started drawing some of the designs, using the images as references for the patterns. Images included the Fog & Fleece barn, sheep, flowers, berries, and trees that grew in the fields, and landscapes.

Drawing out designs is always fun. The horse chestnuts in this pattern pack were a weird and fun challenge. Some of the designs I drew made it into the final pattern pack, while others didn't. Unfortunately, there's a limited amount of space and we ended up editing out a few options, but I love the mix of plants, flowers, and sheep that are included.

In all, you'll be able to stitch 11 patterns of varying sizes. The Sheepery designs range from 2-3.75inches and include: strawberries, hawthorn flowers and berries, coneflowers, three Icelandic sheep, a barn, salmonberries, horse chestnuts.

What Are Stick and Stitch Patterns?

Stick, and Stitch embroidery patterns are the perfect way to add a little inspiration to your stitching. From florals to cacti and tropical plants to winter botanicals, and more these water-soluble patterns make it easy to transfer your design and customize your hand embroidery.

And when I say easy, I mean it! The directions are in the name. With your fabric in an embroidery hoop, simply:

  1. PEEL off the design backing

  2. STICK the sticky side onto your fabric

  3. STITCH over the design. When you've finished stitching, rinse the designs away with warm water.

Stick, and Stitch designs can be used on almost anything. Whether you want to add embroidery to a t-shirt, a quilt, a knit sweater, or leave the designs displayed in an embroidery hoop as a wall hanging, they make transferring your design and getting started with hand embroidery easy.
